Compassion Ministries Through the United Methodist Connection

"It is not enough to be compassionate, you must act." - Fourteenth Dahli Lama, 1992

"Beware of sins of omission; lose no opportunity of doing good in any kind. Be zealous of good works; willingly omit no work, either of piety or mercy. Do all the good you possibly can to the bodies and souls of men." - John Wesley, A Plain Account of Christian Perfection

One Great Hour of Sharing Resources

Denver Urban Ministries (DenUM)

Denver Urban Ministries (DenUM) nourishes the spirit of community and cultivates awareness of urban life. We provide resources for persons in crisis and create opportunities for individual and community growth and service.

The Outreach Services Center at Denver Urban Ministries provides emergency and stabilization services for all people in need.

Through our involvement with coalitions, taskforces, and agencies, we can track broader trends relating to hunger and poverty and work for solutions. Working with coalitions and other advocacy groups allows us to expand the help available and to maximize our collective voice to influence social outcomes.

Crossroads Urban Center (Salt Lake City)

Crossroads is a multipurpose nonprofit, grassroots organization. We help to organize low income, disabled, and minority Utahns to be advocates on their own behalf in addressing essential issues affecting the quality of their lives. We also provide direct services to help meet basic survival needs.

Established in 1966, Crossroads is a multi-faith based project related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church,USA, The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the United Church of Christ.

Crossroads is also supported by many local congregations and through an annual Crossroads bazaar. With less formal connections to Crossroad, a broad range of faith communities, including Protestant, non-Protestant, Orthodox, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist & Humanist traditions are all among the supporters of our efforts.

Intermountain (Children's Home, Helena, Montana)

Intermountain is a nationally recognized Montana non-profit specializing in nurturing, therapeutic environments for children under severe emotional distress. We integrate relationship-based treatment and sound clinical discipline to assure a permanent family for every child.
