This year, AfterHours Denver has teamed up with St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado to collect 1,000 sleeping bags to our city’s homeless and distribute them on Christmas Day in Lincoln Park.

Christmas in the Park 2017 will be the ninth year in a row AfterHours Denver has been in the park handing out sleeping bags and tons of other items for our friends without homes.

“It’s kinda like a flash mob of joy” says the Rev. Jerry Herships, founder and pastor of AfterHours Denver and creator of Christmas in the Park. “Many years ago a number of us thought, ‘It’s got to be awful to be homeless on Christmas. Let’s see if we can’t do something about that.’” Christmas in the Park was born.

What started as eight people coming together to help the homeless on Christmas day has turned into hundreds of people coming together to share the meaning of Christmas with our friends without homes.

“Last year we had over 500 homeless and over 500 volunteers show up.” Herships says.

They will be handing out a bunch of stuff. All are welcome to bring what you have and help hand it out to our friends at noon on Christmas Day. If you would like to donate a sleeping bag for our friends who live outdoors, you would be making someone's life great and help them survive the upcoming cold months.
