POSITION: Director/Pastor of Caring Ministries
The Director (or Pastor) of Caring Ministries will work with the Care Ministries Team to coordinate caring ministries of the church to connect with those inside and outside the church, help its leaders grow into the likeness of Christ and send volunteers to be the presence of Jesus Christ in hospitals, homes other places in need of care in our community.


  • Has a heart for God and a desire to serve in ministry, with a passion of caring for others
  • Ability to invest in people and build relationships and community within the church body
  • Willing and able to be a leader of leaders, equipping others to serve in ministry
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written skills
  • Clinical Pastoral Education, Grief and Trauma Training, Stephen Leader Training and/or Pastoral Credentialing would be an asset but not required
  • Lifelong learner willing to attend continuing education events
  • Team player that works well with other staff and abide by the FUMC Staff Covenant
            Directly to the Lead Pastor
            Indirectly to the Staff-Parish Relations Team
WORK WEEK: Full-Time
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Lay (Non-Exempt, Salaried) or Clergy
COMPENSATION: Set annually by the Staff-Parish Relations Team based on credentials and experience
BENEFITS: As described in the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual for Lay Employees or in the United Methodist Book of Discipline for clergy candidates
  • Work with the Caring Ministries Team to develop and coordinate caring ministries which connect with people inside and outside the church
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Recruit, train and resource leaders for various caring ministries such as:
    • Care Response Team and Ministers
    • Stephen Ministry
    • Hospital Visitation
    • Prayer ministries (Prayer Team, Prayer Quilts and Shawls, etc.)
    • Recovery Ministry
    • Silverlink Visitation Ministry
    • Nursing Home Ministries
    • Cards and Blessings
    • End of Life and Bereavement
    • Groups that support Depression, Parkinson’s, Divorce, etc.
    • Meal Ministry
  • Promote and publicize the Caring Ministry Volunteer opportunities throughout the year
  • To assist and provide support in starting new caring ministries when needed
  • Be active in the worship life of the congregation (this may include occasional speaking or preaching at weekly services)
  • Supervise the Director of Adult Day Care at Our Place in Three Springs
  • Assist in the development and oversight of the Caring Ministries budget
  • Take a Sabbath Day each week and a retreat day each quarter
  • Study Scripture, be a person of prayer, and to continue to grow in faith
  • Other duties as assigned and agreed to
