"Excellent Mission u. Great Study Leaders all around — I have learned so much! Thank you!”

Learning for transformation — of individuals and the world: That is what Mission u is all about! From July 16 to 18 at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, more than 100 participants, including 10 youth and children, learned about Latin America—the people, their faith amidst great historical struggles and the mixed role(s) played by the church since its arrival in the Americas at the turn of the 16th century. The course was said to be “so informing”, even if the wide sweep of history was a lot to absorb in a short time.

In addition, some participants attended a course on finding happiness, our life with God, including the Wesleyan understanding of happiness and holiness. Others who participated in The Church and People with Disabilities found that the course “raised awareness of … what we can do to help the disabled” … “excellent and inspiring.”

The hospitality provide by members of First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs for the three-day event was outstanding. The three-day Mission u Event, sponsored cooperatively by United Methodist Women (UMW) and Board of Global Ministries, will be followed by other one-day events in each conference district.
