Montclair United Methodist Church to hold closing worship Sept. 3

Submitted by the Rev. Paul Kottke
Superintendent, Metropolitan District

On Sunday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m., Montclair United Methodist Church at 1195 Newport St. in Denver, Colorado, will hold its closing worship service. The church faithfully served the community for 75 years. The closing of a dedicated congregation is never easy; however, we are using this time to honor Montclair's legacy and share its love.

The Christian message is that out of death comes new life. It is important to know and celebrate that Montclair UMC has indeed given birth to a new congregation called Be3. The Rev. Lauren Chance Boyd has faithfully served the legacy congregation of Montclair UMC while at the same time given leadership to Be3. With the closure of Montclair, Be3 will continue to be a dinner church on Thursday nights in the same building. As a new church start, it will develop its ministry such that at an appropriate time in 2018, it will re-open a Sunday morning worship service while continuing to be a dinner church.

We invite former members, pastors of Montclair UMC, as well as those who wish to help honor this congregation to join us at 2 p.m. Sept. 3.
