The First United Methodist Church of Lafayette has participated in a “Re-think Church, Change the World” volunteer weekend for several years. This year we had two projects rather than one. On May 16, 11 volunteers worked at the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) apartment building in Lafayette. We installed privacy strips in the chain link fence where the children’s playground is, we painted parking lines, changed damaged storage latches, installed screen around the shed to keep critters out, and cleaned the office.

On May 17, several youth and adults donated and packed health kits and school bags for UMCOR West. We yielded 19 complete school bags and 33 complete health kits! Several extra items and $10 cash (for toothpaste) was also packed to be sent to UMCOR. These will be delivered to the Annual Conference.
