Youth Ministry Coordinator - Brighton UMC, Brighton, Colorado

The Youth Ministry Coordinator will develop a team of parents, youth and other volunteers to plan, coordinate, and carry out a youth ministry program that includes worship, fellowship, discipleship, and missions. Responsibilities may also include coordinating some children's Christian Education programs. Average schedule of 10 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES:

Worship

  • Attend Sunday worship services and act as a role model for youth during worship.
  • Guide youth in planning and participating in worship service activities.
Fellowship
  • Coordinate volunteers, plan, and lead weekly UMYF meetings that include fellowship and service activities.
  • Plan and participate in at least one youth lock-in and one youth conference or retreat annually.
Discipleship
  • Serve as youth ministry liaison between UMYF, Christian Education, and youth Sunday School teachers to assure consistency and carryover of our teachings.
  • Serve as an expert resource to provide consultation on youth education and discipleship training.
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Pastor to lead confirmation classes for youth annually or as needed.
Missions
  • Develop and implement a fundraising plan and schedule to support an annual mission trip and other special youth activities.
  • Plan and participate in a service-based mission trip annually, providing mission focus and education.
  • Organize community-based service projects at least quarterly.
Other
  • Maintain regular communication with the Senior Pastor, Office Manager, participating youth, and families about current activities and future plans.
  • Oversee funds designated for youth activities and approve Youth account expenses.
  • Reach out to other youth in the congregation and community to invite them into Christian fellowship.
  • Engage youth in a welcoming and safe environment using both current technology and standard formats.
 QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong commitment to the Christian faith and teachings. Experience working with youth in a Christian environment
  • Must pass a background check
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within three months
  • College degree or youth ministry certification preferred
  • Awareness of safety and child/youth protection requirements and boundaries
  • Good technology skills and the ability to apply them to youth programs safely and appropriately
  • Strong communication skills using a variety of formats
  • Ability to encourage and foster enthusiasm in youth
