Choir Director Job Summary
The choir director will lead the music and choir for the traditional service and coordinate with other services to provide the best worship opportunity for the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Windsor.
Leading the choir during the traditional worship service as they lead the congregation in worship singing.
Senior Pastor and/or Staff Parish Relations Committee Representative
Part-time position with some flexible hours as negotiated with supervisor.
Have two years experience in directing choir; be patient, cheerful, encouraging and have good people skills.
College level music education is desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
None except as required to meet basic liability standards for insurance carrier.
Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while lifting up to 20 pounds.
Visual and Cognitive Demands
Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions cooperatively. Must have fine vision, sustained vision, and peripheral vision. Must possess enough eye/hand coordination to interact and provide a positive atmosphere for the members of the choir and congregation.
Work Location and Environment
The work is done in the Upper Room and Sanctuary of the church. No smoking is allowed in the building; arrangements can be made for smoking outside in designated locations. Hazards may exist if the employee fails to use proper body mechanics when lifting or transporting boxes of supplies. The possibility of exposure to blood-borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed.
