The purpose of our team is to provide financial, educational, and programmatic support to local churches seeking to express their prophetic voice in the local communities and beyond!
The Church and Society Network of the Rocky Mountain Conference of The United Methodist Church offers grant funding for local churches to begin learning about, using, and selling fair trade products through the UMCOR Coffee Project. The UMCOR Coffee Project is a partnership between the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and Equal Exchange, a worker-owned co-operative offering 100 percent fairly traded coffee, chocolate, tea and foods, to involve more Methodist communities and individuals in supporting small-scale farmers around the world. Applications will be accepted now through Feb. 29, 2016.
Every year the Church and Society Team organizes a breakfast to raise awareness about a specific justice issue as it relates to people of faith in the United Methodist Church. This breakfast features an inspiring guest speaker, an award ceremony for the Peace Maker of the Year, and an opportunity to become more connected into the justice work of the Church and Society Team.
More upcoming events are posted on our Facebook page!
There is always room for one more on the Church and Society Team! If you have a passion for a specific justice issue or a gift you would like to use to support the purpose of our team, please contact one of the individuals below. We're all in this together!
