The Rocky Mountain Conference of
The United Methodist Church
announces
an exciting new opportunity for all those who work with youth.
We have heard the hunger…
“Why can’t we do youth worker training
here in the Rocky Mountain Conference?”
“
I want youth worker training but it’s too expensive.”
“
I could go to a training I found but it’s not United Methodist.”
Announcing the Rocky Mountain Youth Ministry Institute!
YMI consists of three one-day training events
for all adults who work with youth: youth directors, youth ministers,
youth counselors, or youth workers, whatever your designation.
YMI is offered in your area. Each session is
taught in 12-14 locations across the conference.
YMI is cost-effective. For $25 you receive a full day’s
training, lunch, a recently published youth ministry book,
and a gift bag of goodies for you and your ministry.
YMI provides a network of leadership resources as
we strengthen the connection.
Many youth workers around the conference have taken the opportunity
to attend the Youth Ministry Institute training events over the
past year. In YMI Module 1, we discussed calling, spiritual gifts,
programming rationale, small groups and others. For $25 participants
received a full day's training (10am til 4pm), lunch, a recently
published youth ministry book, and a gift bag of goodies for themselves
and their ministry. If you are still looking to take this one-day
training it will be offered at Casper
FUMC on November 10.
Module One, “Foundations for Youth Ministry,” was
offered in January and February, 2007 at a number of locations.
Now, YMI Module Two, "Quad Thinking," is fresh off the presses
and will be offered as an additional training option. Module 1
is not
required
in order
to take Module 2. Module 2 focuses on uniquely United Methodist
youth ministry. "Quad Thinking" is based on a summary
of Wesley's Quadrilateral and our use of these sources (Scripture,
Tradition, Experience, and Reason) in the decision making process.
The Module will help direct us to use these sources as the basis
of programming, relationship building, and discipleship. All modules
include safe sanctuary modeling as well. Cost of the module is
$25 to cover the all day training, the cost of materials, and LUNCH!
