UM Continuing Education Scholarships Available

UM Continuing Educators Annual Meeting in Conjunction with SACEM
The Society for the Advancement of Continuing Education for Ministry (SACEM) will hold its annual meeting in Nashville, Tenn., January 21-24, 2009, at the Scarritt Bennett Center. The theme of 2010 annual meeting is Transforming Boundaries: Creating Communities of Learning and Renewal.

In the past, GBHEM has hosted the annual United Methodist Continuing Educators Meeting immediately following the SACEM meeting. However, this year we will not have an extended meeting since the SACEM annual meeting is focused on peer groups, and GBHEM is developing these during the 2009-2012 quadrennium. HiRho Park, Director of Continuing Education, has been involved in planning for the SACEM annual meeting. Questions such as "We've been hearing about them and leading them for the past several years, but what difference do they make? The styles of leadership vary from program to program, is one better than the other? Who participates in these programs and why? How much does all this cost?" will be addressed. GBHEM will host a dinner for all UM Continuing Educators during the SACEM annual meeting.

The Office of Continuing Formation for Ministry is offering 15 scholarships to UM Continuing Educators. This scholarship will cover the fee for attending the annual meeting ($350) if you register by December 7, 2009. Individuals will still be responsible for lodging and transportation.
