Parables from the Fishin’ Hole

We are all familiar with the parables in the Bible.  But that’s not the only place you’ll find them.  Actually, parables are just short, simple stories that contain a moral message.  Parables from the Fishin’ Hole gives us several good examples to study.  Drawn from episodes of the classic TV series, The Andy Griffith Show, this series is spiritually challenging, thought provoking, and great fun, too!

The Hiding Place
Based on the true story that has captivated over 8,000,000 readers, The Hiding Place is one of the most extraordinary stories to come out of World War II.

Filmed in Holland and other authentic European locations, the film traces the lives of Corrie ten Boom, her father, and sister Betsie, from the quiet years before World War II, to their work with the "underground" in helping to save the lives of countless Jewish families.  The ultimate price they pay for their efforts is arrest and imprisonment in one of Nazi Germany's most dreaded concentration camps.  In the midst of monstrous cruelty and suffering, Corrie and Betsie must face the greatest test of their faith in God and their ability to love mankind.

The Hiding Place was filmed in 1975 and stars Julie Harris, Eileen Heckart, Arthur O’Connell and Jeannette Clift as Corrie ten Boom.  The film is approximately 2½ hours.

Jesus
This television mini-series, which aired on CBS in May 2000, follows Jesus from His humble beginnings as a carpenter through His extra-ordinary life and the mission of His spiritual destiny.  While there are some places where the TV version went beyond scripture for dramatic purposes, the video version has been edited to follow the Biblical accounts more closely.  The video features an all-star cast and the music of Leann Rimes, Avalon, and more.  The film is approximately 3½ hours and is on two tapes.
