What are the Board of Stewards’ roles and responsibilities?
At times when the Connectional Table is not meeting Board of Stewards shall:
- Have the responsibility for providing for the functional connectional relationships
and related ministries of the local church, district, and conference with
the general agencies as described in paragraph 607, The 2004 Book of Discipline
What is the structure of the Board of Stewards?
The BOS shall have a membership of eighteen persons, composed of an equal
number of clergy and lay members, based upon diversity in gender, age, ethnicity,
and geography. The BOS membership shall consist of:
- Member chosen by the
Committee
- Member by virtue of Office
- Member At-Large
The Board of Steward’s Leadership Team shall consist of one Lay at-large
member and one Clergy at-large member who shall alternate each year between
Chair and Vice-Chair.
How does the Board of Stewards perform the roles and responsibilities?
- Meet approximately once per month through teleconference or face-to-face
meetings.
- Connection to conference committees through representation.
- Work with conference staff
How does the Board of Stewards connect to the local church?
- All members are part of a local church
- Part of the RMCUMC Structure that links the Local Church leadership to
the General Church leadership, resources, training and support through program
ministries and administrative groups of the Rocky Mountain Conference.

- Local church gatherings
- Table Talk updates
- Conference Website
- District meetings
- Annual Conference
What are the (proposed) goals for the BOS in 2006-2007?
- Team building
- Education of the conference structure and our connection as Methodists.
- Address issues of racism
