STATE ECUMENICAL AGENCIES
The Rocky Mountain Conference maintains a relationship to the following
state ecumenical agencies, which are affirmed as Conference Approved
projects. These state-wide ecumenical organizations enable the United
Methodist Church to participate with other denominations in ministry.
COLORADO COUNCIL OF CHURCHES is a community of communions formed
by God, defined by Jesus Christ and shaped by the Holy Spirit for
the purpose of enabling the member communions to be a fuller expression
of the one Body of Christ than any one communion can be by itself.
Through our relationships and our actions together, we shall manifest
and give witness to the unity and mission of Christ’s Church
in Colorado. The communions do not relate to the Colorado Council
of Churches. The Colorado Council of Churches is the avenue through
which the communions relate to each other.
Together, the member communions seek to build bridges over the chasms
within the Christian community, to address issues of justice in local
communities and the state of Colorado, to prepare congregations to
respond to hate incidents when they occur in local communities, and
to increase the valuing of youth ministry in the life of congregations.
Contact person: Dr. James Ryan, Executive Director, 3690 Cherry Creek
South Drive, Denver, CO 80209; (303) 825-4910; Fax: (303) 744-8605;

www.coloradocouncilofchurches.org.
WYOMING ASSOCIATION OF CHURCHES serves the entire state of Wyoming
and is presently made up of twelve Christian faith communions that
work to achieve equal justice and dignity for all through education,
interaction, cooperation and understanding. It fosters ecumenical
ministry and religious diversity. Presently, the WCC has contracts
with the State of Wyoming to provide for two Chaplains: one at the
Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins, and the other at the Women’s
Center in Luck and the Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp in Newcastle.
Ministry priorities are social justice for the poor and oppressed,
vigilance with respect to hate groups, ecumenical worship and discussion,
and support of peace and justice issues and public policy advocacy.
